The Charlottesville Arts and Entertainment magazine stated: "Sarah Parks demonstrates her skillful talent to blend Impressionist elements with the Classical Realist tradition. She brings a contemporary sensibility to classical compositions and subjects. Parks’ polished brush strokes are softened by her natural palette. Her magnificent attention not only to detail but to surface texture is evident in her figure paintings…her figures are shaped by the accurate use of light and shadow. Parks’ unique style only heightens the artistic experience with her visually beautiful masterpieces." Beautifully done with a wonderful feel similar to the delicate feel of the Magnolia impressionistic paintings of Martin Johnson Heade. Your own approach to impressionistic style is so perfectly "reflected" in the light on the leaves. So very beautiful!! Your other paintings on the site (Wistful, Reclining, Dancer at the Bar, Slumber and Azalea are all so well done!! Please continue to support the arts by making your art!!
Sarah Parks replied:
How kind of you to say! My daughter is a big fan of Martin Johnson Heade. I personally love John Singer Sargent's work so I'm always striving to capture the light the way he would. I'm so pleased you liked this piece. Right now, I'm busy working on my drawing instruction video series, "Drawing Secrets Revealed," but I can't wait to get back to painting. I'm particularly interested in landscapes right now. I'll definitely post more as I paint them. Take care, Cliff!
